Hi lovely reader!

Some good stuff in the issue this week with some information all about GEO, a term I just learned (although was familiar with the concept). Related to that, info on how to make sure your website can be indexed by ChatGPT Search, and a last call reminder for the LIVE Chat session for August with Amey Holden. Will we see you on the call?

As always, if you spot anything you think would be worth a mention, just let me know by sending a message via the online contact form using the navigation link above. Always good to know of others posting about D365 Marketing or if you see anything else other marketers should know about.

Now let’s get on with the newsletter!

Update Copyright Content Block With Current Year Dynamically

This post has come out of my own frustration that I forget to change the end year and update copyright information at the bottom of emails. Typically a company will have the copyright symbol, their founding or ‘start year’ along with the current year then something like ‘All Rights Reserved’. You set the current year in January and sit back for 12 months. But will you remember to change it at the end of the year? This post shows how you can dynamically set the current year to use in your email footers.

Add the Contactability Grid (Communication Tab) to Custom Forms in Dynamics 365

In this post from Zay Aung, he walks us through how to add the contactability grid (or Communications control) to a custom form in D365. This can be useful for making sure users that don’t have access to the Customer Insights – Journeys app can still see and understand the communication preferences for a Contact or Lead.

The Generational Trends Report

Another interesting report from Brandwatch. This time it’s all about generational trends, understanding how consumer behaviours and preferences changed across different generations. They analyzed millions of social media conversations to understand how each generation is shaping (and reacting to) trends in retail, food, and travel. This report gives marketers the insights needed to stay ahead of the latest generational trends.

What is generative engine optimization (GEO)?

A few days ago, Pauline Kolde posted a reply on one of my LinkedIn posts mentioning GEO. I thought it was a typo and she meant SEO. Although I know about making sure your website is optimised for AI driven search, I hadn’t heard the acronym or term before. GEO is generative engine optimisation. This is a great introduction to understanding what it is and why it is important for your own website.

Generative engine optimization: What we know so far

Another post on Generative Engine Optimisation from HubSpot talking about the new era of search, the AI age. Are you and your organisation ready for it, and most important, is your website optimised? HubSpot says, if we want our content to reach the right people, we need to adapt. There’s no need to throw out the SEO principles you’ve spent decades learning. Much of GEO is an extension of these techniques — and it’s not as scary as it sounds.
