Hi lovely reader!

With a flurry of blog posts, I have 3 to share in this issue, along with a brilliant one from Renée van der Walt. Plus, a couple of interesting articles on cookies, and data visualisations.

As always, if you spot anything you think would be worth a mention, just let me know by sending a message via the online contact form using the navigation link above. Always good to know of others posting about D365 Marketing or if you see anything else other marketers should know about.

Send Portal Forgotten Password Email Using Customer Insights – Journeys

If you are using a Power Pages website, there is the option for a Contact to use a forgotten password button, fill out their email which will in turn send them an email with a link to reset it and get logged in. Branding and consistency from an organisation is imported. If you are using Customer Insights – Journeys, you already have the tools to make sure your communications look professional, regardless of what triggers those emails to go out. In this post I’ll show you how you can send out the forgotten password email using Customer Insights – Journeys.

Create A Simple Event Session Registration Trigger

There are some great out of the box triggers for events which I have written about before. One that seems to be missing though is a trigger that fires for a Session Registration. We have the Event Registration Trigger Created that fires, but what if you provide people with a way to register for specific sessions and need to send them information about it? Luckily this is a VERY easy trigger to create and one that does not need any code or developer stuff at all. Let’s look at how to create an Event Session Registration Trigger.

Generate And Send QR Codes For Event Sessions

Out of the box, the Event Management functionality includes QR Codes for Event Registrations. What it does not include, is QR Codes for Session Registrations. However, someone can be checked in for a Session. So I wondered if there was a way to generate and send QR Codes for event sessions so someone can be checked in at the door for each session they attend. Well there is, and it isn’t all that difficult to do. Let’s take a look at what is needed to generate and send QR codes for individual event sessions.

Create Custom Lookup Fields in Your Real-Time Journey Form

With the continued delay of being able to add custom fields on forms in Realtime, this post from Renée has come at a good time. In this post she walks through how to create a custom lookup field on a Realtime Marketing form. This means adding a new field to a form when it doesn’t actually exist as a field on a Contact or Lead. Very clever!

An interesting post on how AI-driven technologies and a shaping paradigm shift are expected to make the prolonged debate about established martech practices irrelevant. If you’ve been following along with Google’s decisions on phasing them out, then changing their mind, this might be of interest!

The Power of Data Visualization for Tech Companies. Is Your Strategy Up to Par?

Data visualization is still numbers, but easier to understand. Instead of viewing rows and rows of data, it can be turned into imagescharts, graphs, maps, etc. Do you have a strategy and are reviewing your data in ways that are meaningful and make sense? Your data is powerful but if you can’t use it, how useful is it really?
