Tons of awesome content in the newsletter this week, lots of fantastic articles being written. Great to see so many people writing on the topic of Marketing & Customer Insights – Journeys (D365 Marketing).
As always, if you spot anything you think would be worth a mention, just let me know by sending a message via the online contact form using the navigation link above. Always good to know of others posting about D365 Marketing or if you see anything else other marketers should know about.
Now let’s get on with the newsletter!

Resolving Error While Creating Target Entity Issue on Realtime Marketing Form Submissions
MEGAN V. WALKER
I’m hoping this helps people who have scratched their head for ages wondering why their Leads or Contacts are not being created when someone submits a Realtime Marketing Form. This has actually occurred for two different clients in a given week, so time for a post about. All you see is that the form submission for someone has failed, and the failure description shows ‘Error while creating target entity’. In this blog, I will show how you can figure out what is causing it, but then the most likely culprit at the end.
Customize the Email and Marketing Form in Customer Insights
PAULINE KOLDE
Any consultant who has already tried to edit and add new fields to the D365 forms for emails or marketing forms will know the frustration it brings, and honestly might have even given up! Pauline walks through the steps you need to take to do that. There are so many forms and there are specific ones that need to be edited and done in a specific way. So check this one out to learn out how it’s done!
MB-260: Describe the differences between individual consumer and business account profiles
MALIN MARTNES
This is a new post from Malin on her MB-260 exam series. This one is all about understanding the difference between individual consumer and business account profiles, which is key for learning about Customer Insights-Data and hopefully passing the exam!
Using Voucher Codes in Customer Insights
RENÉE VAN DER WALT
This is a fantastic two part series from Renée. The challenge she is solving is all about giving a customer a unique voucher code to get discounts for products/services. It’s then about using triggers in Realtime Marketing, Power Automate and a Realtime email and journey to complete the solution. You can access part one in the button below, and part two here.
Transition From Outbound To Realtime Events
KELLY SIMPSON
Do you need to transition from Outbound to Realtime Events? In the post, Kelly looks at the difference in features between the two, and notes that some features are not yet available in Realtime Marketing. If you are using the Event Management functionality, this is definitely one for you to take note of!
Part 1: Welcome to MarTech March
PAULINE KOLDE
Pauline is on fire this week with another blog post out! This one should be very interesting to follow, as she is putting out a series of blogs she’s named MarTech March. She is attempting to bridge the gap between theory and practice to help navigate the Marketing Technology landscape. I will be watching with great interest! Nice work Pauline!

2024 Digital Experience Benchmark Explorer
CONTENTSQUARE
I love it when readers suggest content to share with others, and Deborah Hale has done it again. Thanks Deb! She shared a really interesting site which is an interactive explorer, sharing the most relevant benchmarks for digital customer experience (CX). Pick your industry to see the KPI’s for each one, looking at things like traffic and visitor segmentation, visit engagement and country KPI’s. Thanks for sharing Deb!
What’s new in Google Analytics - Primary Channel Group
I recently wrote about setting up Custom Channels to handle your Unassigned data in GA4, which might now be redundant. Google has just announced they’ve added the Primary Channel Group, a new, editable channel group that will be the default reporting channel for all channel reports. So kind of what I showed how to do, but better because it’s already your default! If you are responsible for Google Analytics, go check this one out now.
If you’re marketing on ‘Email Island,’ don’t get yourself voted off
MARTECH - MIKE PASTORE
If you are a fan of the show Survivor, lots of references here (I am, one of my favourites, just not the UK version 🤪). Ultimately it’s about how to please all stakeholders like the email providers, your sales team, and the actual audience members receiving your emails. Sometimes it DOES feel like you’re on an island just working through it all on your own, trying to please everyone!
