Lots of bits and pieces for you in the newsletter this week, including double opt in for Real-time Journeys. Also, a new LinkedIn group that might be of interest for you to join.
As always, if you spot anything you think would be worth a mention, just let me know by sending a message via the online contact form using the navigation link above. Always good to know of others posting about D365 Marketing or if you see anything else other marketers should know about.
Now let’s get on with the newsletter!
D365 Marketing
Double opt-in in real-time journeys
Microsoft
It’s finally here, double opt-in for Real-time Journeys. Or is it? Well as of August 1st, it should be available for everyone should they choose to use it. Germany, Austria and Switzerland for example are more likely to need to adopt this to comply with local regulations. Take a look and see when it’s available for your region.
Switch from Microsoft Teams live events to town halls
Microsoft
The title is misleading in this case, because it’s actually some new important information at the top of the page that I wanted to bring your attention to. It was announced previously that Teams live events were going away on September 30th 2024. That is no longer the case!
Considerations with Business Units and scoping in CI-J
Peter Krause
Thanks to Marco van der Heyden for sharing this one! A useful article pointing out things to consider when working with business units and Customer Insights – Journeys. It explains what Business Units are in Dynamics 365, how Customer Insights – Journeys works, and how the two work together. If the link below doesn’t work (having issues with it showing with UTM parameters), try this instead: Considerations with Business Units and scoping in CI-J (dynamics.com)
Known issues in Customer Insights - Journeys with mitigations
Microsoft
Have you ever run in to issues and thought, surely I can’t be the only one having this problem? Perhaps you aren’t, and maybe it’s even already known by Microsoft and listed on their known issues page. Check this out as it might answer some of your head scratching questions!
Events
Marketing Automation with Dynamics LinkedIn Group
Stephani McDowell
Not exactly an event, but somewhere you can hopefully meet and chat with others in the same industry. This isn’t the only D365 or Marketing related group to pop up on LinkedIn, but the admin for this one is someone with a lot of experience in the Customer Insights – Journeys platform. I would love to see this place grow and be a group where people chat and interact and help each other out. So if you think it might be for you, go ahead and join the group!

After years of uncertainty, Google says it won’t be ‘deprecating third-party cookies’ in Chrome
Digiday - Kayleigh Barber & Seb Joseph
What a rollercoaster ride! Google has FINALLY decided to keep third-party cookies in its Chrome browser. How much effort have you put in to trying to find alternatives? This article provides some valuable information understanding what has changed, and what Google’s plans are now moving forward (until they change their minds perhaps!).
67% of marketers say lack of training is primary barrier to AI adoption
MarTech
Do you think this is true, and that it’s a lack of training that is the primary barrier to AI adoption? I find this interesting that it’s this rather than say fear of AI, or feeling like it’s not needed that is stopping people from embracing and adopting it. What do you think?
